Policy and Approach
The ID&E Group has been engaged in global water resource development since its foundation, and water resource conservation and efficient utilisation is a high-priority sustainability challenge. We have established Action Guidelines for the Conservation of Water Resources within our Sustainability Management Framework. Based on these Action Guidelines, we earnestly pursue water resource conservation, contributing to our Group's material topic of Cultivating a Beautiful and Habitable Planet.

Initiatives
The ID&E Group delivers solutions for water resource conservation, usage reduction, sustainable water resource utilisation, and wastewater management and water pollution prevention by applying various technologies across both our own operational sites and infrastructure projects developed for clients. We comply with wastewater management and water pollution prevention laws and regulations, implementing appropriate wastewater treatment and leakage countermeasures.
Water Security Compass—Opening the Future of Water Resource Conservation: Collaboration with University of Tokyo and Suntory
Nippon Koei, in collaboration with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering and Suntory Holdings, has developed an online platform, “Water Security Compass,” which enables the multifaceted visualisation of water scarcity risks. By taking into account water supply–demand balance and regional characteristics, the platform allows users to identify future water resource risks. Currently, a Global version (beta) and a Japan version (alpha)—which analyses water resources across Japan at high spatial resolution—have been released. Through the proprietary indicator SS‑DTA, the platform contributes to water resource conservation, including responses aligned with the TNFD framework.

Comprehensive Sanitation Plan for Panama City and Panama Bay
NK LAC participated in the Panama Bay Sanitation Project, contributing to the design of wastewater treatment plants and capacity expansion. Through advanced biological treatment processes and biogas power generation, the project has achieved improvements in water quality and reductions in CO₂ emissions, thereby contributing to the conservation of coastal ecosystems. In addition, the project promotes awareness of water resource management through an environmental education facility, supporting initiatives to build a sustainable future.
