Occupational Health and Safety Initiatives

Based on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, we have established a series of processes in the PDCA cycle to voluntarily promote continuous health and safety management in order to prevent occupational accidents, promote workers' health, create a more comfortable work environment, and improve the level of health and safety in our workplaces. The PDCA Cycle is a series of voluntary safety and health management processes. In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Law, we also conduct appropriate risk assessments to prevent occupational accidents and ensure the safety and health of our workers. Examples of major occupational safety initiatives are as follows.

Safety Patrol

In order to eliminate occupational accidents and foster safety awareness among staffs on projects in Japan and overseas, we conduct "safety patrols" according to standards appropriate to the size and content of the project. For projects in which we supervise and manage construction, we confirm the implementation of safety measures at the site and by construction personnel through monthly joint safety patrols by the client, contractor, and our company, as well as weekly safety patrols by the contractor. The results of safety patrols are fed back to project personnel, and each project promptly formulates improvement measures based on the feedback results and reports on the implementation status to establish a PDCA cycle to eliminate occupational accidents. The results are also shared at the Health, Safety, and Environment Meeting and the company's subcommittees to ensure the horizontal expansion of best practices as well as safety management risks.

Security Survey

For overseas projects such as international development cooperation projects, we have established our own risk criteria to determine whether to accept orders and travel. For projects in high-risk countries, we conduct security surveys of project offices and dormitories with the help of experts from a crisis management company contracted by us at the startup of the project. Based on the survey findings of crisis management experts, we have strengthened security measures at our offices and lodging houses. We are taking all possible measures to ensure that staffs can work in a safe and secure environment.
